Full description
No doubt many readers are familiar with the bible, and its place in Christianity, or maybe the role of the Hebrew scripture in Judaism and the Qur’an in Islam—these are therefore probably prototypes for such readers, who work under the assumption that if ‘we’ have books of consequence here then we presumably will find the same thing over there, when we start doing our cross-cultural comparisons.
So if the question translates as ‘What do they call their bible?’ then anyone posing such a questions will have to take a step back and reconsider a few things.
