Personal reflections by William Bock who was born December 24, 1928 in Manitou, Manitoba and who recounts his experiences teaching indigenous schoolchildren in residential schools in the Northwest Territories and later served as superintendent of schools in Northland School Division, Peace River, Alberta. between 1957 and 1969. The essay reflects his shock at the difference in standards of education between the two jurisdictions alongside his assessment of the system of residential schooling.
