Quizzing Glasse or Hannah Scrutinized, (Part II)

This concludes the full survey which Jennifer Stead has made of Hannah Glasse's famous book The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy. Part I appeared in PPC 13. Single page reference numbers are to the first edition of The Art of Cookery. Where double ones, such as 104/449, are given, the first refers to The Art of Cookery and the second to The Whole Duty of a Woman (referred to for short as Whole Duty), the book which Hannah Glasse drew on more than any other in compiling her own work.
