Full description

The second chapter explores the geography and environmental aspects of the Rocky Mountain West. Theoretical frameworks are only as valuable as the reality they reflect. Th e Rockies are a particular landscape that differs substantially from French- vineyard- derived visions of terroir. This chapter argues the value of terroir in application to beer as it helps us read the Rocky Mountain West political, cultural, and foodway landscape differently. Th e Rockies are a distinct landscape and therefore have a commensurate beer terroir.
