The aim is to evaluate it in terms of such major areas of expression as tone qualities, rhythmic values, harmonic language, melodic sensibility and compositional considerations, and to do so through the tangible evidence of a limited number of examples drawn from the many studio and live recordings that have been made publicly available (so far).
