Full description

Popular Music Studies in Norway have been given a boost by an expansion in resources both in the National Library and at regional centres throughout the country as a result of ten years of planning and debate. The focal point of the growth in resources will be Rockheim, a purpose-built exhibition and archive centre in Trondheim. The idea that a national museum and experience centre for popular music might be warranted was first discussed at the Norwegian Sound Archive confer- ence in 1998 and, following further talks at the 2000 conference, the decision was taken to establish a separate archive for popular music.
