Full description
Murphy moved to New York City, sharing an apartment with his brother Doc. Gradually he came to know people such as Sheila Jordan, who became a life-long friend, Jon Hendricks and Dave Lambert. Through a process of networking he eventually landed a contract with Decca Records and made two poorly-selling albums with them. Soon after the first – Meet Mark Murphy – was released, his father died under mysterious circumstances.
