Living in a camper van known as Big Bertha to save money, Murphy began rebuilding his American career in the north-eastern cities, and signed a deal with Muse Records, recording one of his most notable albums, Mark Murphy Sings. He arranged for Eddie to go through a marriage of convenience so he could legally settle in the USA, and by the late Seventies they were living together in San Francisco. The Stolen Moments album received airplay, and back in England a Mark Murphy fan-club was established.
