Full description
Education had begun to create new possibilities in British society, not just in terms of access to it but in terms of what could be taught in schools and colleges. A new generation of jazz musicians were emerging during the sixties, and their backgrounds reflected changes in education that had followed the Butler Act. Education was not the only force that would shape British jazz in the period but it was, nevertheless, a very important one.
