I regret that I am disappointed with Clippard’s main point in the essay: praising the anthropocentric, instrumentalist, and practical value of nature to humans as the chief features of Zhu Xi’s philosophy of nature in order to serve as a ‘foundation for a practical Chinese-oriented program of “ecological literacy”’
