Full description
The Pillar of the Boatmen is a set of four stones, (1st century CE) found in the crypt of the church Notre-Dame de Paris. Those stones four-sided, which have been piled up to form a pillar, bear upon their four faces some low reliefs representing Gaulish and Roman gods with, the most often, theirs names engraved. This paper discusses one of the faces as defying death and, in a way, overcoming it.
