Full description
(Fl. 5th century BC.) Myrtis was a lyric poet from Anthedon, a small coastal town in northern Boeotia (Plut., Greek Questions 40). Antipater calls her ‘sweet-voiced’ and places her amongst the best of women poets (Anth. Pal. 9.26.7s). She was famous enough to have a bronze statue made of her (Tatian, Against the Greeks 33).
