This volume is a collection of articles dedicated to Professor Corrado Pensa to mark his 80th birthday. Prof. Corrado Pensa was a well-known scholar at La Sapienza University, Rome, interested principally in the Early Buddhist tradition, before becoming a psychotherapist and prominent Dharma teacher in the U.S.A and Italy, and founder of the Associazione per la Meditazione di Consapevolezza (A. Me. Co) in Italy. He is an internationally well-known figure involved in the spread, understanding, and practice of Buddhism in Europe and the United States of America.

The contributing articles are by Corrado Pensa’s colleagues, former students who have become international scholars, and well-known international Dharma teachers. The book is divided in two parts: research articles and essays by meditation teachers. The central theme is the teaching of awareness (Pāli sati, Sanskrit smr̥ti) in Buddhism and indeed in other related traditions. This theme is approached from different perspectives: philosophical, philological, exegetic, anthropological, and as an aspect of meditative practice.
